“I would love to be able to take a shower”

Shower of Blessings…What started out as simply feeding and talking to the people of our homeless community, it still felt that we were not doing enough.  While having these conversations, we asked one of the guest, “What is the one thing, if you could have anything, that you would want or need that we can do for you?”.  The response was ever so humbling: “I would love to be able to take a shower.”

Just so happens, the facility that we lease has a gymnasium with both male and female shower areas.  Thus, Shower of Blessings had begun.

On the first, third, and fourth Tuesdays of the month, we send out vans all over the Memphis area to pick up the homeless and bring them to the facilities.  There, they are taken to select fresh, clean clothing from the clothes closet; given new under garments and toiletries; escorted to the showers; then sit down to be fed and served a home cooked meal while enjoying inspirational words of encouragement.

It is our goal, to see that every person has a fighting chance as we come along side of them and fight!

Each participant is registered and goes through an interview process that allows us to set them up with the proper services for which they qualify. It is our goal, to see that every person has a fighting chance as we come along side of them and fight!

We always have community sponsors on hand to answer questions, offer counseling, prayer, encouragement, training services, and job recruitment.
